How to Measure Blood Pressure
- Avoid caffeine, smoking, and exercise for at least 30 minutes before measurement.
- Sit comfortably and rest for about 5 minutes before checking your BP.
- Keep your back supported, feet flat on the floor, and legs uncrossed.
- Place your bare upper arm comfortably on a table at approximately heart level.
- Wrap the cuff snugly around the upper arm, about 2 cm above the elbow bend.
- Use the inflation bulb to inflate the cuff while using the stethoscope to listen for blood pressure sounds.
- Slowly release the pressure and record the systolic and diastolic readings.
- Remain relaxed and avoid talking during the measurement.
